Natural gas hydrogen production unit

Using natural gas as raw material, hydrogen is produced by steam reforming, which is mainly composed of raw material temperature rising and boosting part, raw material refining part, steam reforming part, shift reaction, heat recovery part, gas producing system part and PSA purification part. Also it has the advantages of low investment, low energy consumption, reliable operation and high flexibility.

The refined raw material gas is mixed with water vapor according to the water-carbon ratio of 3.5-3.9, and then preheated to 500-600 °C through the convection section of the reformer, and enters the radiant section of the reforming furnace. Under the action of the catalyst, complex steam reforming reaction takes place. To produce an equilibrium mixture of hydrogen, methane, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide and water, the main reactions are:

CH4 + H2O = CO + 3H2      -206.4kJ/mol

The conversion gas of about 350℃ enters the intermediate temperature shift reactor, and the shift reaction occurs under the action of the catalyst to reduce the CO content in the shift gas to about 3%, while continuing to produce hydrogen, the main reaction is:
CO + H2O = CO2 + H2        +41.2kJ/mol

After being cooled to 40 ° C by a medium gas water cooler, the free water was initially separated by a separator and then introduced into the PSA purification portion, thereby finally obtaining an industrial pure hydrogen having a purity of 99.9%.
